"Centre of Excellence in Cultural Fixation on Honour: a Gender Audit of Punjab & Haryana" was awarded to Panjab University by the University Grants Commission under the Scheme of CPEPA [Centre with Potential for Excellence in Particular Area] in 2011. This Centre is undertaking an inter-disciplinary research project on Gender Violence in Punjab and Haryana, by conducting intensive fieldwork in these two states, with the objective of making a gender audit of media, public policy, legal provisions and culture, in the light of ground reality.
The Centre is located in the Department of Sociology, Arts Block IV, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Recently, the Mid Term Review Committee of the University Grants Committee has evaluated the Centre and recommended its extension till December 2017.
